Advantages and disadvantages of Regular lay and lang’s lay

Among the wire rope varieties, the right-hand lay is the most common.

Generally speaking, when determining the twist direction, if the softness is emphasized, the same direction twist (lang lay)can be selected, and when the non-looseness and non-rotation are emphasized, the alternate twist (regular lay) can be selected.

As for whether to choose left or right twist, it is determined by factors such as equipment conditions and operating habits. The disadvantage of interactive twist is that the contact is poor, easy to wear, and the life is short. The advantage is that there is no tendency to loosen and twist. Therefore, the advantages of lang’s lay are that it is relatively soft, easy to bend, has small internal stress, smooth surface, small wear and long service life; The advantages and disadvantages of alternately twisted wire ropes are opposite to those of co-rotation.

Under what circumstances is lang’s lay wire rope recommended?

1) Used for hoisting in vertical shafts

2) Hoisting in inclined shafts(winch)

3) Vertical shaft guide and ropeway

4) Winch on slope

5) Conveyer belt, telpher, cable railway

6) Excavating machinery

By the way, we suggest you choose steel core wire ropes used for oil exploration. For ship loading and unloading, you need to choose galvanized.
